Flash back: PYA reflection

On 6th April 2011, the secondary 3 to 5 cadets were involved in a Police Youth Ambassador (PYA) event. After a briefing was conducted by 2 officers from the Hougang NPC, those involved in PYA were split in to two different groups. The task was simple - to spread information on loan shark harassment to the residents near our school.

The cadets and I were honored and glad to be working together with two police officers from the Hougang Neighborhood Police Centre. I felt it was important to allow residents in our community better understand the dangers of getting in contact with loan sharks; educate them on how they could aid the police in the arrest of loan sharks and their runners; and how they can take down the description of suspicious characters before informing the police.

Being a Police youth Ambassador, I have learnt how to better communicate with the residents. I hope that with the little help as an NPCC cadet, we can have a better and safer community to live in.
