Some comments from the cadets who participated in ARSC 2011

Firing the rifle was a totally awesome experience! This is an experience I will never forget as it was the first time I handled an air rifle. When I first saw the rifle, I thought it was very light, but I was wrong. It was much heavier than I imagined. When I first saw others firing the bullet, I thought it was a piece of cake firing at the scorecard. But it was difficult shooting at the 6-10 point area. Aiming was difficult as my hands were unable to keep still.
My confidence increased, after receiving valuable tips from our seniors and instructors. On the day of the competition, I was very nervous. Being very new to this experience, I was afraid of missing too many shots. However, during my test shot, I was surprised to see that I could fire well. In all, it was an experience I am glad to have achieved, and I hope to participate in more such activities in future.

The air rifle shooting competition was very interesting. It was a really rare opportunity for us NPCC cadets to be able to handle an air rifle. Only eight out of the whole secondary 3 squad was chosen and being one of them, I felt honored. When we first had our dry firing practice, the instructors were very friendly during the briefing. They were well-prepared and made sure that every single detail is gone though so that the cadets would not make common mistake. I had little confidence of my air rifle skills before the actual briefing. Afterwards there was a round of practice and I further sharpened my skills. On the actual day of the competition, the atmosphere was tense and everyone was very attentive and serious. The rifle was light and much easier to use than I expected. So it was easier for me to get an accurate shot. However, we still had to apply our knowledge from previous training. I hit a bulls-eye. Overall, I found this a one-in-a lifetime experience and it is very unique. I feel that it would allow me to have a score in the secondary magnum live firing marksman badge. I would join the competition again if given another chance to do so.

The air-rifle shooting championship was a great experience for me. We learnt how to load an air rifle, take up various shooting positions, and finally shoot. Things like safety precautions were very important and a briefing was also held to tell us what to expect on the competition day itself. The competition was a good platform for us to build our confidence and self-esteem.
A dry shoot and live firing training conducted before the actual competition was where we learnt our basics about the air-rifle. It was also where we shot the rifle for the first time. This experience was a good one and we all enjoyed it very much. In a nutshell, we learnt many things there and I hope there would be more of such activity.

I love the air rifle competition! It is awesome and adds a little more flavor to our usual NPCC activities. In the full course of my experience, I faced some difficulties such as using my non-master eye and also the strength needed to pump the gun. Although I was the reserve, I enjoyed my time through the event.
I would like this activity to be carried on for the other generations of NPCC cadets as it was very fun and interesting. Though it was a pity we missed the top three positions just slightly, I believe team dynamics was core to the experience. I want to thank Mr Suhaimi and Avriel sir for allowing us to participating in the event, and giving the necessary funds.
